School Environmental Health

inspectorSchools are required to be inspected semi-annually as stated in Chapter 3707 of the Ohio Revised Code.  The State of Ohio passed state regulations known as Jarod’s Law in 2008 and in 2010, the law was rescinded.  The Ohio Revised Code states that schools are required to be inspected.  As a result, the Defiance County General Health District developed a local guideline with assistance from the Ohio Department of Health and Defiance County Prosecutor.

DCGHD School Environmental Health and Safety Guidelines

Our goal is to ensure that school environments are constructed and maintained to protect health, safety, and the welfare of the students, school employees and the general public.  The goal is achieved through the inspection process and the education of school administrators, custodians, and teachers.  For more information on the guidelines, please contact the health district at 419-784-3818.
