Water & Sewage Program

The Water portion of the Water Quality Program is responsible for administering Chapter 3701-28 of the Ohio Administrative Code (Private Water System rules).  This program reviews and approves permits for construction, alteration, and abandonment of private water systems.  A private water system is defined as a water supply system for the the provision of water for human consumption, other than a public water supply system.  This program includes:  water wells, cisterns, springs, ponds, and hauled water tanks.

The Sewage portion of the Water Quality Program is responsible for administering Chapter 3701-29 of the Ohio Administrative Code (Sewage Treatment System rules).  This program monitors the proper treatment and disposal of all waste water for household and small flow (semi-public) sewage treatment systems in a manner which will protect surface and groundwater from contamination.  This program also reviews and approves permits for construction, replacement, and alteration of all sewage treatment systems.
