Defiance County Safe Communities Coalition Reminds Public:
Click It or Ticket Campaign Starts May 22

Ohio’s annual observational seat belt survey, conducted by The Department of Public Safety’s Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO) shows the statewide seat belt compliance rate dropped from 84.1% in 2021 to 80.8% in 2022 – the lowest since 2005. Defiance County’s current seat belt usage rate is 87.2%. Defiance County Safe Communities Coalition is collaborating with the Defiance Development and Visitors’ Bureau (DDVB) to host the Click It or Ticket kick-off event and Coffee with a Cop, Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 8 a.m. at the DDVB office in Defiance. Coalition partners including local law enforcement will attend to increase awareness about seat belt use in Defiance County.
The annual Click It or Ticket campaign is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s NHTSA’s high visibility enforcement effort that runs from May 22 to June 4, 2023. This campaign is aimed at enforcing seat belt use to help keep families safe, the national seat belt campaign runs concurrent with the busy Memorial Day holiday travel season. Seat belts save lives, and everyone – front seat and back, children and adults – need to buckle up – every trip, every time.
