DEFIANCE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT UNDERGOING RENOVATIONS
DEFIANCE, OH –
The Defiance County Health Department is excited to announce upcoming renovations to our office as part of our ongoing commitment to providing quality services to the community. Construction will begin on Monday, February 10 and is expected to continue through Friday, April 25. During this time, some services and operations may be temporarily relocated or adjusted to ensure the safety and convenience of the public and our staff.
The renovations are funded by a $150,000 grant, secured by the Defiance County Health Department, with the remaining funds coming from the Defiance County Commissioners. The total bid for these renovations, which was awarded to Midwest Contracting, Inc. of Holland, Ohio, is $200,875.
“We are excited to begin these renovations, which will provide a space that allows us to better serve the public creating a more effective, efficient, and functional space for our staff. We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we work to improve our facilities, while continuing to serve the community.” says Jamie Gerken, Health Commissioner of Defiance County Health Department.

Temporary Closures and Limited Services
- The Health Department office will be closed on Monday, February 10th.
- The office will re-open on Tuesday, February 11th:
- Birth and Death Certificates are available in-person or online at: https://defiancecohealth.org/birth-death-records/
- Community Health, Environmental Health, and Health Promotion services are limited – Please call our office to schedule an appointment.
- There are no changes to WIC services during construction
