Defiance County’s First International Overdose Awareness Day Event
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]The Defiance County Drug Free Coalition, in partnership with Defiance College, is hosting the very first Defiance County International Overdose Awareness Day Event on September 3, 2024 from 4-7PM. This all ages event will be taking place at Defiance College in the Serrick Center’s Hubbard Banquet Room. Food will be available to purchase at the event from the Defiance College Dining Hall or from 2 Food Trucks: Seasoned Mobile Grill and Aqua Ice.
This awareness day is one to remember the lives lost to overdose without stigma and work toward a future without overdose deaths. This year’s theme is “Together We Can” which highlights the power that we have as a community to end overdose when we work together.
The event will feature a resource fair with mental health and behavioral health agencies, as well as substance use prevention, treatment and recovery organizations. Resource tables will have information on their services as well as FREE giveaway items, such as: Narcan, prescription medication locking caps and bags, t-shirts, Deterra drug disposal bags (while supplies last), and more!
Speakers will also be featured throughout the event sharing stories of recovery and losing a loved one to overdose. There will be a memorial and prayer to remember those in Defiance County who have lost their life to overdose.
